Why Treatment Is Important

Even without symptoms, an impacted tooth can lead to:

  • Misalignment of surrounding teeth
  • Difficulty with proper biting and chewing
  • Damage to nearby tooth roots
  • Cysts or infection

Because impacted teeth rarely move into place on their own, early treatment is typically recommended.

How Treatment Works

Treatment involves a coordinated approach between your oral surgeon and orthodontist.

  • The tooth is gently exposed through the gum
  • A small bracket and chain are attached
  • Your orthodontist gradually guides the tooth into proper position using braces or wires

This allows the tooth to function naturally within your smile.

Your Treatment Plan

  • At your consultation, we’ll use advanced 3D imaging to assess the exact position of the tooth and plan your treatment.
  • We’ll also review your anaesthesia options and walk you through what to expect.

Comfort & Recovery

The procedure is designed to be as comfortable as possible, with sedation options available.

Our team will provide clear instructions and support throughout your recovery and orthodontic treatment.

Types of Anaesthesia

We offer anaesthesia options to keep you as comfortable as possible during your surgical procedure.

Local Anaesthesia

Lidocaine is injected through a needle and temporarily numbs a small area, preventing nerves from communicating pain sensations to the brain. Patients remain awake and do not feel pain during treatment.

IV Sedation

IV procedural sedation puts the patient into a sleep-like state. Our team of doctors, Registered Nurses and surgical assistants closely monitors all vital signs throughout treatment, and the patient will remain comfortable until the procedure is over. Patients must have an adult remain at the clinic during the procedure and take them home after the surgery.
